Sculptures make the recycling Link

Sculptures made from recyclable material will greet visitors to Merton Link at Merton Civic Centre as part of the council’s support of Big Recycle Week from 27 June to 1 July 2005.

Merton Council recently asked classes in local primary schools to take part in a competition to make a ‘work of art’ out of recyclable materials. Some of the sculptures will be on display in the Merton Link reception of Merton Civic Centre. There will also be information on how to recycle in Merton.

The winning sculptures were:
· 1st Class 4P at Cranmer Primary who made ‘Sunshine’ out of plastic bottles.
· 2nd Year two, Joseph Hood Primary who made ‘Snails’ out of paper.
· 3rd Reception class at St Teresa’s Primary who made ‘Giraffe’ out of cardboard boxes.

Winning class members received a goodie-bag of recycled products.

Notes to editor
