Merton Council wants to hear from residents about what facilities they think their borough needs and what it should look like the future.
While starting to prepare a Local Development Framework (LDF) last year, the Council asked residents in an initial questionnaire how they wished to be contacted about new planning policy and future applications and which planning issues were of most interest to them.
Feedback indicated the most preferred option was to receive a notification letter from the Council while the issues generating the most interest were transport and natural and built environments.
The LDF replaces the Council’s existing Unitary Development Plan and will guide development in the borough for the next 10 years. As part of the document, a Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) will set out how Merton Council plans to engage with residents while preparing the LDF and how they can expect to be consulted on future planning applications.
The questionnaire findings are available in all of Merton’s libraries and can also be downloaded at http://www.merton.gov.uk.
