Essential resurfacing work will be carried out along Alexandra Road, Wimbledon from 7 July to 20 July to replace the worn out and uneven stretch of road.
Tarmac National Contracting Limited will conduct the reconstruction of the Alexandra Road, with residents benefiting from a safer road surface and reduced road noise and vibration.
The resurfacing will take place in two stages as described below:
§ Stage 1 – 24 hour closures
Commencing Monday 11 July for 9 days. Monday to Friday – 7.30am to 9pm and Saturdays 9am to 7pm.
Alternate sides of Alexandra Road will be closed with traffic allowed to flow southwest towards Wimbledon Town Centre. Northeast bound traffic will be diverted along the surrounding roads.
§ Stage 2 – Isolated night time closures
Commencing Monday 18 July, between 8pm and 2am for 3 nights.
Throughout this period Alexandra Road will be fully closed to through traffic, with vehicles being diverted along the surrounding roads.
Throughout the reconstruction, residents are advised to make alternative parking arrangements, as access to properties fronting the works will be limited.
Merton Council apologises for any disruption the road works may cause and advise residents to avoid the area where possible.

§ Pedestrian’s access will be maintained throughout the works, however some crossing restrictions will be in place.
