Merton Council has set up a number of emergency measures in response to today’s incidents in central London. The Council has set up an emergency control room at the Civic Centre, and is on stand by to provide assistance to the boroughs affected.
Arrangements have been made for schools to remain open until 5.30pm, to provide for children whose parents are delayed returning home or collecting them from school.
A number of emergency beds have also been set aside iand nterim rest centre arrangements made for members of the public.
The Mayor of Merton, Councillor Judy Saunders, expressed her deep concern at the day’s incidents: “I am deeply shocked at the activities of this morning in central London. My prayers go out to all of those who have been affected by these terrible attacks.”
