Merton residents are asked to use their senses on Sunday 17 July between 2-4pm at Cannizaro Park, when the Sensational Six Senses Chamber Maze is open for exploration.
The huge maze has been created and filled with artwork made by pupils from St Matthews C of E School and Brighton based arts group Same Sky.
Residents can wander around the maze making use of their sense of smell, taste, sight, hearing and touch as well as their sensational sixth sense.
The artwork was created in workshops held in the school during the spring term, with pupils encouraged to use a wide variety of materials. The Same Sky artists used storytelling, discussion and drawing to help the children think about their artwork. The result is a maze of colour, texture, humour and comment.
There will be guides in costumes to lead you around the maze and live performances from the Polka youth theatre group.
Patrick Bullock, Same Sky artist who is seen in the photos inspecting the giant tongues, said, ‘ The pupils from St Matthews School were fantastic. They had great imaginations. They came up with the idea for the giant tongues and made them with great gusto.’
Admission to the maze is free. For more information contact Arts Development Merton on 020 8545 3571
