A new service called ‘Family Matters’ is offering information and advice to local families struggling to cope with issues complicated by problematic drug and alcohol use.
The Community Drug Service South London (CDSSL) has set up the service with support from Carers Support Merton.
Issues associated with drug and alcohol abuse can include family conflict, domestic violence, financial issues and health concerns.
Emily Holt, Family Worker with CDSSL said:
“It’s a confidential service providing communication tools and coping strategies. We try to remind family members that they are not alone.”
Anybody is welcome to visit the service on a Friday and talk to a family worker. There are also structured counselling sessions and group workshops available.
Family Matters is open 1.30pm – 5.30pm every Friday at Carers Support Merton, 24 Deer Park Road, London SW19 3UA.
For more information phone CDSSL on 020 8773 9393 or Carers Support Merton on 020 8543 0347.
