Merton Council has published its 2007 Best Value Performance Plan (BVPP).
The BVPP is a statutory document which summarises the council’s achievements and challenges throughout 2006/07, outlining its ambitions and improvement plans for the following year, as well as setting out targets for the next three years.
Key performance achievements include:
Continuing to be one of the top four safest boroughs in London
Improved residents satisfaction across all our services
Winning numerous national awards for innovation such as the ‘Merton Rule’ to reduce carbon emissions as well as providing excellent services for looked after children
Key stage 2 results were the 4th best in country for sustained improvement
Being the best website in London as well as one of the top nine in the country
Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Corporate Services Councillor Samantha George said:
“This has been a fantastic year for Merton achievements. We have been recognised nationally as being head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to tackling climate change as well as being the best in the country for providing services for looked after children. We will continue to push ourselves to become one of the top achieving local authorities in the country, providing good value for money services to all our residents.”
