An exciting partnership between Merton’s Environmental Development team and Wimbledon Park Primary School will be unveiled tomorrow afternoon at a recycled goods sale in the Weir Road Reuse and Recycling Centre.
It is the first of its kind in London and will raise money for Wimbledon Park’s environmental programme. Items such as books, bric-a-brac, furniture and electrical goods are just some of the items that will be on offer to people, who visit today’s sale.
Councillor Tariq Ahmad, cabinet member for Environment and Traffic Management said:
‘I commend both Wimbledon Park Primary School and Merton’s Environmental Development team for their hard work in pulling this initiative together. It is both innovative and informative as it raises awareness of the importance of recycling.
“This collaboration will benefit the school’s environmental programme and raise the profile of the Weir Road Reuse and Recycling Centre. I wish them every success for tomorrow afternoon and I sincerely hope that similar partnerships come into effect in the very near future across the borough,
highlighting the importance of putting the green agenda at the heart of what we do as a community.’
The Reuse and Recycling Centre at Weir Road, Wimbledon, is available for residents to bring reusable or recyclable household waste for reuse or recycling.
