A road safety van that will tour the borough has been donated to Merton Council by F.M. Conway Ltd.
Sean Geraghty, Chief Executive of F.M. Conway Ltd, took part in a photocall outside the Civic Centre on Monday 30 October, when the keys of the vehicle were officially handed over to Nick Greenwood, Merton’s Transport Planning Manager. Also present was Merton’s road safety mascot, Debra the Zebra, who proved to be a natural in front of the camera.
Councillor Tariq Ahmad, cabinet member for Environment and Traffic Management said:
“I would like to pass on my thanks to F.M. Conway Ltd for donating this vehicle, which will be put to great use across Merton.
We will actually have council officers speaking to people on a street level about the dangers that exist on Merton’s roads, and it is also a great opportunity for people to come and learn about the new car seat legislation that recently came into effect.”
