Forget me not, Remembrance Services Weekend

Merton Council will hold two days of Remembrance Services on the 11 &12 November to remember those who fought to bring change.

Mayor of Merton, Geraldine Stanford said ” Whilst we pay tribute to the millions of men and women who gave their lives so bravely in two world wars, sadly, we also remember those who dies or have been injured since then in many other conflicts around the world. I would therefore ask everybody to give generously to the Annual Poppy Appeal”

Armistice Day, 11 November

Clock Tower, Fair Green, Mitcham

The service will commence at 10.50 am and will be attended by the Mayor of Merton, Councillor Geraldine Stanford, Civic Representatives and staff of the London Borough of Merton together with representatives of The Royal British Legion.

Remembrance Sunday, 12 November

Nelson Hospital Forecourt, Kingston Road

The service will commence at 9.00am and will be attended by the Mayor of Merton, Councillor Geraldine Stanford, Civic Representatives together with representatives of The Royal British Legion, and representatives from the Epsom and St Heiler Hospital Trust, the Sutton and Merton Primary Care Trust and The South West London Strategic Health Authority.

Mitcham War Memorial, Lower Green west, Mitcham

The service will commence at 10.40am and will be attended by the Deputy Mayor of Merton, Councillor John Dehaney, Civic Representatives and members of organisations in the Borough and Members of the Mitcham Branch of the Royal British Legion. After the service the Deputy Mayor will take a salute.

Wimbledon War Memorial, Wimbledon Village

The service will commence at 10.40am and will be attended by the Mayor of Merton, Councillor Geraldine Stanford, Civic representatives, members of organisations in the Borough and Members of the of the Wimbledon Branch of Royal Legion. After the service the Mayor will take a salute in the High Street, Wimbledon Village.

St Lawrence’s Church, London Road, Morden

The service will commence at 10.45am with a wreath laying ceremony at the Lich-gate at the entrance follow by a service in the church members of the Morden and St Helier Branch of Royal British Legion will attend.
