Photocall: A lesson in Life

Eleven of Merton’s primary schools are gearing up for this year’s Junior Citizens scheme.

Junior Citizens runs for a week, starting on 12 February 2007, and will be coordinated by Safer Merton, the local crime and disorder reduction partnership. The Baitul Futuh Mosque, who have kindly offered the use of their facilities free of charge, will host this year’s event.

The project is a multi-agency initiative, involving internal and external partners, and aims to help support children in their transition from primary school to secondary education. Merton’s partners will be working closely to deliver valuable messages regarding personal safety and safe travel, as well as highlighting possible dangers that children may face in their everyday lives, and teaching them how to deal with such situations.
Leader of Merton Council, Councillor David Williams said, “This is a great opportunity for pupils to get involved and learn the importance of personal safety and safe travel. I am very happy that the mosque has kindly offered our schools their facilities. This is a true act of a community pulling together ‘.
