Rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of the large crowd attending the 2007 Mitcham Carnival on Saturday 16 June.
Mitcham Carnival had arrived at the carnival site (Three Kings Piece) a little after midday; with a gathering of revellers who had been captivated by the colourful parade as it journeyed through London Road.
The excitable crowd clapped and cheered as the colourful floats circled the arena before the parade show-cased a host of its finest. A collection of stalls provided food, juice and gifts to a cheerful crowd despite the weather.
Gorringe Park Primary School was awarded best float design by the Mayor of Merton.
Mayor of Merton, Councillor John Dehaney said
“I would like to thank all those who took part in organising the Carnival. It was a wonderful day with such a huge turnout, not even the rain could stop it from being such a remarkable day”.
