Merton Council’s Trading Standards has prosecuted Time 2 Move.com Ltd, estate agents which trade as T2M in Tooting.
On 29th August 2007, following a two day trial in Wimbledon Magistrates Court, T2M was convicted of failing to take all reasonable precautions and exercising all due diligence to avoid its boards being displayed on land for which it had no instructions. T2M was fined £3,000 and ordered to pay costs of £4,733 for six offences of displaying false information.
On two occasions T2M displayed advertised boards on land within the borough that related to properties 190 metres further down the road. Its boarding contractor Fairdeal Signs Ltd, had wrongly displayed boards outside Mitcham library for three weeks, despite three telephone calls of complaint made to T2M about the sign.
Cabinet Member for Housing and Regeneration, Councillor Diane Neil Mills said:
‘It is very important that businesses recognise that Merton council will not tolerate this kind of behaviour.’
