Merton libraries kick off New Year with DVD prize draw

To kick off 2008, Merton’s libraries are offering residents the opportunity to win the latest DVD releases every month.

To win a DVD, members must rent one of the latest releases and complete a prize draw form available at library counters across the borough. At the end of each month, three lucky winners are picked out of a hat and given their free DVD. There is still time to enter the January draw and a copy of Bourne Ultimatum is the prize. For February, the winners will take home the pre Christmas hit Ratatouille.

At all seven of Merton’s libraries (Wimbledon, Morden, Mitcham, Pollards Hill, Donald House, Raynes Park and West Barnes), members have a range of 7,000 DVDs to choose from, with 120 of the latest blockbusters arriving each month. Catering for every taste and age group, Merton invests £25,000 each year in its DVD stock.

Merton Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Services, Councillor Maurice Groves said: “We want people to discover or rediscover their local libraries. They are important hubs in the community, and places where people of all ages can come and enjoy the huge range of books, DVDs and CDs we have to offer. We aim to provide something for everyone in order to meet residents’ entertainment needs.”
