Merton residents invited to try something new

Merton residents are being given the opportunity to learn another language, relax with T’ai Chi or improve their writing skills as part of Adult Learners Week being held from May 17 to 23.

All members of the community are encouraged to take part in one of the free taster courses being held at the borough’s adult education centres.

It’s hoped participants will see the benefits of furthering their education throughout their life and continue learning even when the week is over.

A diverse range of courses will be run at various times throughout the day and at venues across the borough so all residents can take part, regardless of their circumstances.

Cabinet member for Community Services, Councillor Maurice Groves, says: “Merton Council is providing residents with the opportunity to further their education because of the benefits it brings. People may want to gain qualifications or learn a new skill and our adult education centres have something to meet everyone’s needs. The taster courses provide an exciting opportunity for residents to try something new.”
