Merton Adult Education scoops another award

Adult residents across the borough have now an extra reason to join one of the courses run by Merton Adult Education. The college recently achieved the cross college Matrix Quality Standard – the national standard for any organisation that delivers information, advice or guidance on learning and work. This means that all learners can feel confident that they will receive objective, informed and relevant advice about their learning and career options.

Merton Adult Education is the first college in London to achieve this standard and one of only 13 colleges across the country.

This is not the first time the college has been awarded – in 2005 it achieved the Matrix Standard for the Careers service. This time Merton Adult Education went further, and succeeded in achieving the quality standard for the whole college. This involved participation from all staff and partners in the community.

Councillor Maurice Groves, Cabinet Member for Community Services, says: “This award recognises the excellent quality of education provided by Merton Adult Education. We are extremely proud of all the hard work that went into scooping this highly regarded trophy that recognises the college has gone one step further to help students’ career development. I would encourage Merton residents to take full advantage of all learning opportunities available.”

Merton Adult Education has been offering a wide range of high quality courses and qualifications for over 50 years and currently has over 5000 learners on over 300 courses. For more information visit http://www.merton.gov.uk/learning/adulted/adulteducation.htm.
