A brand new programme of summer activities was launched at the Wimbledon Park Water Sports Centre by Merton’s Deputy Mayor, Councillor Krysia Williams on Friday.
During the rest of July through to October, Merton youngsters will be able to perfect their badminton technique, brush up on circus skills or practice their street dance. These are just some of the huge variety of courses available in the borough under the Summer Plus initiative. People wanting to book a place on a course can do so online at http://www.merton.gov.uk/esp
Councillor Williams said: “With the summer holidays just about to start for many of our young people, Summer Plus means that there will never be a shortage of things to do during the coming weeks. This is a perfect time to improve on things you already know about, but it’s also an opportunity to discover a new talent you never knew you had.”
Merton Council Cabinet Member for Community Services Councillor Maurice Groves said: “Summer Plus is a great initiative especially designed for young people in the borough. Whether you’re into sports or the arts, there is something for everyone. The classes are really sociable too, so taking part in Summer Plus gives you the opportunity to make new friends as well as discover new skills. We are lucky to have such a large pool of expertise which we can offer to our young people at reasonable prices. With the Olympics not far off, this is the time to look out for our future hopefuls.”
