Roadshow brings kitchens and bathrooms ‘to life’

A trailer is taking to the streets to show tenants the difference that transfer of the council’s homes to Merton Priory Homes could make.

Inside the trailer, tenants can see an example of the standard of kitchen that transfer could deliver including the units, worktop and taps as well as the kind of over-bath shower that would be possible with the new local housing organisation.

All tenants, leaseholders and freeholders are invited to the roadshow, set to tour the borough from Tuesday 20 January to Wednesday 25 February, and stopping off at 13 locations in total.

Representatives from both Merton Council and Circle Anglia, the council’s new partner housing association, will also be on hand to provide information about the Better Homes transfer process and answer any questions residents may have.

Councillor Linda Scott, cabinet member for housing, adult care and health says: “This is a great opportunity for tenants and leaseholders to not only learn about the transfer process but also to see for themselves examples of the types of improvements they could expect to see if the transfer goes ahead.”

The first roadshow will visit Abbey Orchard on Tuesday 20 January in the parking bays opposite 27-41 Swains Road from 2pm to 4pm and 5pm to 7pm. A list of all other dates and locations is available online at http://www.merton.gov.uk/betterhomes or for more information phone the Better Homes team freephone number on 0800 923 0037.
