Eight areas are set to see the introduction of 20mph speed limits and three areas to become 20mph zones by the end of March, as part of Merton Council’s Twenty’s Plenty scheme to improve road safety in the borough.

Areas within the new 20mph speed limit will include Trinity Road, Quicks Road, Ashbourne Road, Melrose Avenue, Merton Hall Road, Merton Park, Farm Road and Wandle Road. Areas around Pelham Road, High Path, and Parkway will also become 20mph zones. Speed cushions are being installed within the zones and signs will be erected shortly with works been carried out during off peak periods to minimise traffic.

Merton Council’s cabinet member for planning and traffic management, Cllr William Brierly said, “I am delighted that the introduction of these Twenty’s Plenty schemes to Merton are progressing well. The 20mph limits and zones will help to improve safety in the borough for both residents and road users.”

Trinity Rd area bounded by The Broadway, Queen’s Rd (inclusive), Trinity Rd (inclusive), South Park Rd (inclusive) and Haydon’s Rd.
Quicks Rd area bounded by South Park Rd, Haydon’s Road, Merton Rd and Merton High Street
Ashbourne Rd area bounded by Ashbourne Rd, Streatham Rd and London Rd
Melrose Avenue area bounded by Revelstoke Rd, Arthur Rd, Durnsford Rd and Melrose Avenue (inclusive)
Merton Hall Rd area bounded by Dundonald Rd, Kingston Rd, Kingswood Rd (inclusive) and Lower Downs Rd
Merton Park area bounded by Crown Lane, a section of Martin Way, Cannon Hill Lane, Kingston Road, Dorset Rd and Morden Road
Farm Rd area bounded by Central Rd, Green Lane and St Helier Avenue
Wandle Rd area bounded by Wandle Rd, The Drive, Lilleshall Rd, Milton Rd (excluded) and Bishopsford (excluded).
20mph zones will be implemented in:
Pelham Rd area bounded by The Broadway, Kingston Rd, Merton Rd and Gadstone Rd
High Path area bounded by Merantun Way, Merton High Street, Morden Rd and Mill Rd (inclusive )
Parkway area bounded by Grand Drive, Cannon Hill Lane, Parkway, Berrylands and Cannon Close
