Sparks set to fly in Merton

Merton Council is inviting residents to celebrate Bonfire Night at Merton’s annual bonfire and fireworks musical spectaculars on Thursday 5 November at Wimbledon Park and Saturday 7 November at Morden Park.

There will be two fantastic performances at each venue. Gates will open at 5.15pm and the display times are as follows:

First bonfire lit at 6.30pm, fireworks display at 6.45pm
Second bonfire lit at 8.15pm, fireworks display at 8.30pm
Side stalls and Fun Fair open from 5.15pm – 10pm
Entrances to Wimbledon Park’s firework displays are via Wimbledon Park Road, Revelstoke Road and Homepark Road. Entrances to Morden Park’s firework displays are via London Road next to Merton College, Lower Morden Lane and Hillcross Avenue. For more information visit http://www.merton.gov.uk/fireworks

Tickets are available on the night priced: £7 – adults, £4 – under 18s, under fours – free, and £20 – family ticket (two adults, two children). Visitors are not permitted to bring any fireworks or alcohol into the parks.

Merton Council’s cabinet member for environment and leisure services, Councillor David Simpson said, “We are inviting everyone to come and enjoy Merton’s annual fireworks and bonfire displays. Each day’s event will offer two opportunities to view a remarkable display and I would encourage residents to join us for a perfect evening of entertainment for family and friends of all ages.”
