Register for rewards at Merton’s libraries

Sign up to any of Merton’s libraries for a chance to win a year’s free gym membership, a laptop, theatre tickets, a ten week adult education course, a digital camera and much more. From Monday 15 February and throughout March, every new member will receive a free gift as well as an entry into the prize draw, while existing members can also enter the prize draw when they recommend a friend to join.

Merton’s eight libraries have undergone significant changes over the last few years, becoming much more than a place for books. With free internet access, educational spaces, DVD rental and a great deal more, the libraries are accessible and interactive for all the family.

By the end of March, self service technology will be available in all venues allowing residents to get a speedy service. Online resources are also widely available in libraries across the borough allowing residents to join the library, renew books online, view the library catalogue and place reservations for stock as well as access several subscription based electronic reference resources like Encyclopaedia Britannica, Who’s Who and Oxford Online.

Wellbeing services are also offered, with drop-in sessions at Raynes Park, Pollards Hill and Morden libraries. Workshops focused on stress management, healthy eating, mental health and confidence skills are available for residents as part of this programme.

Members are invited to take part in courses, see guest speakers, entertain their families or relax with a book in all libraries. With prizes sponsored by Elys, Polka Theatre, Solitaire, Greenwich Leisure and Merton Adult Education, now is the time to join up.

Cabinet Member for housing and community services, Councillor Linda Scott said: ‘Our libraries are an important part of the community and I would love to see more people making the most of the newly improved facilities near to them. Work is continuing to make libraries more interactive so now is the perfect time to sign up and see for yourself.’
