Ofsted’s good news for Poplar Primary School

Poplar Primary School pupils and staff are celebrating following a positive Ofsted report this week, indicating high achievement and further promise for the future.

The school received a “good” rating for overall effectiveness and several “outstanding” ratings for curriculum, care, guidance and support, the extent to which pupils feel safe, adopting healthy lifestyles, engagement with parents and pupils’ behaviour.

The Ofsted report for the school states: ‘The care, guidance and support that pupils receive are outstanding and accordingly pupils behave well, have good relationships with adults and other pupils and respect each other’s achievements”. The inspectors also commented on the strong community of the school, noting that it “provides a warm, welcoming, and stimulating environment where pupils feel cared for, safe, secure and ready to learn”.

Director of Merton council’s children, schools and families department, Yvette Stanley said “It’s fantastic to see Merton’s schools being recognised in this way. Ofsted’s latest report confirms our view that children at the school are happy, healthy and enjoy their learning experience. It’s also good to see Ofsted’s positive comments regarding the staff at the school who work hard to maintain these high standards.”
