Pre-planning consultation meetings will be held on Friday 27 and Sunday 29 January about proposed changes to the Canons Leisure Centre and recreational ground.

Mitcham residents will have the chance on both days from 12pm – 4pm, to voice their opinion on plans for a new multi-use games area and refurbishment of the existing tennis courts.

During this time locals will be able to see maps of the site, drawings of how the development may look and the proposed floodlighting footprint.

Cabinet member for community and culture, Councillor Martin Whelton said: “This is an opportunity for the residents of Mitcham to come along and have their say on our exciting proposals for new sporting facilities at the Canons. As a council we value the feedback of residents and hope they will attend the consultation events.

“The proposals will enhance and improve our facilities at the Canons along with offering more chances for young people to get involved and participate in sport”.
