Merton Council is bringing in a new improved online payment system this month which will give residents greater flexibility when making payments to the council.
From 17 April, residents will be able to benefit from the council’s new upgraded online payments system. This will allow residents to make online payments for garden waste collection, adult education classes, parking penalty notices, council tax and more, at their convenience, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
To enable the council to install the upgraded system, residents will not be able to make card payments to the council online, in person or by telephone between 1pm on Monday 16 April and 1pm Tuesday 17 April. In addition to this, residents wanting to book Merton Active Plus holiday activities or pay for parking permits and renewals will not be able to do so until Wednesday 18 April.
Cabinet Member for Performance and Implementation, Councillor Mark Betteridge, said: “Our new system will be much more customer-friendly and allow our residents to make payments as and when suits them. We appreciate residents’ patience during the time when we will be making the upgrade.”
