Merton was the highest-scoring London borough in a customer satisfaction survey that looked at the performance of local authority websites over the last year.
The SOCITM website performance service, based on the opinions of members of the public, showed 83% of people were able to complete the tasks they visited Merton’s website for, compared with the London average of 76%. Merton was also ranked in the top 10% of council websites nationally for successful visits and overall satisfaction.
Over 130,000 people took part in the survey which asked customers how satisfied they were with the website, whether they would return in the future and if they were able to complete the task they set out to do. Results from the monthly survey for May had the council website as the second best in the UK and the first in England.
Merton Council’s deputy leader, Councillor Mark Allison said: “It is very reassuring that our website has been commended by the people who use it. We wouldn’t have been named the country’s best achieving council if we weren’t the kind of organisation that constantly tried to improve, and is key to our residents experience of our services.”
