Improve your wellbeing this New Year at Merton Libraries

Merton Libraries are helping residents to improve their health this new year with a range of fitness and wellbeing sessions taking place across the borough this month.

Pollards Hill Library is hosting its annual wellbeing day on Tuesday 20 January at 10.30am – 3pm, called ‘Fit ,Fun and Fabulous’. This free event offers library users an opportunity to get advice and information from a range of health, fitness and beauty professionals. Events taking place throughout the day include blood pressure testing, advice on healthy meals and snacks for parents and children and healthy skin information.

On Thursday 29 January, Wimbledon Library will be running a Healthy Life Fair at 10am which will include health check consultations, drug and alcohol awareness sessions, Zumba taster sessions and ‘BoxFit’ exercise demonstrations which are free for everyone to attend.

Donald Hope, Mitcham, Morden and Raynes Park libraries will also be hosting a range of health sessions focusing on improving the mind, body and health at the following times throughout the year:

  • Donald Hope – Mondays at 2.30-4pm
  • Mitcham – Mondays at 10.30am-12pm
  • Morden – Tuesdays at 5.15-6.45pm
  • Raynes Park – Mondays at 5-6.30pm

Merton Council’s cabinet member for community and culture, Councillor Nick Draper said: “If you’re not a member of Merton Libraries yet, make it your New Year’s resolution to join! Our libraries have a huge range of free resources and activities on offer for everyone including health and wellbeing sessions as well as IT support, fitness and language classes, children’s activities, coffee mornings and much more. Come along to the Fun, Fit and Fabulous session at Pollards Hill Library or the Healthy Life Fair at Wimbledon Library and see what’s on offer.”
