Young film-makers who documented their summer at the Acacia Adventure Playground have been highly commended in a national awards scheme.

The playground in Mitcham Eastfields was short-listed for the London Adventure Play Awards, which celebrate great adventure play in the capital.
A short film by young people who use the playground was screened at a Leicester Square cinema on Thursday 27 October, where a group of excited young people and staff went to find out the results.
They were highly commended in the the Flick N Snap award which honoured the photograph and film which best captures the true spirit of adventure play.
There were six categories including Best Adventure Playground, Play Street of the Year, Beyond London Award and the School Award, with playgrounds and streets from all over the country making the short-list.
Cabinet member for children’s services, Councillor Katy Neep said: “I’d like to congratulate the Acacia Adventure Playground on being highly commended in the London Play Awards. The adventure playground was the first of its kind to open in the area in 2010 and it is fantastic that young people who use the playground have been able to share what it means to them with their friends and family using this film.”
