Residents are invited to attend the brand new Colliers Wood Library’s community fun day on Saturday 24 February. The popular family friendly library will be packed with free activities and events for all ages to enjoy between 11am until 4pm for everyone of all ages to enjoy.
Colliers Wood Library first opened on Monday 5 February and is already proving very popular with residents. The council’s business-like approach enabled it to strike a deal with developer Rocco Homes to build a purpose built library that is sustainable for future generations and at a fraction of the price it would have cost the council to build it alone.
The new library has free computers to use and Wi-Fi, meeting/event room space, special activity zones, a comprehensive array of books including a dedicated children’s library and a café. It is Merton’s first ever dementia friendly library following consultations with the Alzheimer’s Society for its layout, design and customer service.
On Saturday 24 February a range of free events will take place for all the family including theatre, drama and craft activities. For a full list of activities please see http://www.merton.gov.uk/libraries.
Merton Council Cabinet Member for Community and Culture, Councillor Nick Draper, said: “The community day at Colliers Wood Library is the perfect opportunity for everyone to come along and enjoy the excellent facilities at the new library and to engage in a number of free activities. Our family friendly libraries are going from strength to strength. We pride ourselves on making Merton a great place for families and are incredibly proud to have a state-of-the art new library facility available for our residents to enjoy.”
