The vaccine doesn’t give you COVID

There has been a theory circulating around that “vaccine shedding” could mean people who have had the vaccine can then pass on the virus. There are several reasons this is completely false, so let’s jump in.

According to the theorists, vaccinated people can shed the COVID-19 virus (specifically, one of its proteins) simply by breathing. But all of the COVID vaccines work by instructing your immune cells to create proteins that help your body recognize the virus and create an immune response. In other words, when you’re jabbed, you aren’t infected with the live virus. None of the vaccines authorized for use in the UK contain a live virus so it is not possible to shed it.

Experts also say it’s extremely unlikely you’ll shed a virus after receiving any vaccine, but with the COVID vaccine, it’s scientifically impossible.

Sometimes this process can cause symptoms, such as fever. These symptoms are normal and are signs that the body is building protection against the virus that causes COVID-19.

The vaccine is the safest and most effective way of protecting yourself and loved ones against the virus.
