New COVID-19 travel information

If you’re going abroad, or have visitors arriving from overseas, there are now also new rules in place that affect all arrivals into England, including if you’re fully vaccinated.

If you arrived in England between midday 26 November and 4 am 28 November and have been in any of the following red list countries in the previous 10 days, you must quarantine at home, or at alternative appropriate accommodation.

If you arrived in England from any of these countries after 4 am 28 November, you must follow standard red list rules. This means you must quarantine in a managed hotel, and take 2 COVID-19 tests.

If you’re fully vaccinated, before you return to England from a green list country, you must:

• book and pay for a COVID-19 PCR test, which must be taken before the end of day two after you arrive back in England

• complete a passenger locator form – to be completed in the 48 hours before you arrive back in England

On arrival in England, you must:

• take a PCR test before the end of day two after arrival

• self-isolate in your home or the place you are staying until you receive your test result

• if the PCR test result is negative, you can then leave self-isolation

• if the PCR test result is positive or unclear, you must self-isolate for 10 days from the day you took the test.

If you are not fully vaccinated, before you return to England from a green list country, you must:

• take a COVID-19 test in the three days before you travel

•book and pay for a day two and day eight COVID-19 PCR test

• complete a passenger locator form – to be completed in the 48 hours before you return to England.

On arrival in England, you must:

• quarantine at home or the place you are staying for 10 full days

• take the first test on or before day two and the second test on or after day eight after arrival.
