Statement from Councillor Ross Garrod, Leader of Merton Council

“The thoughts of everyone at Merton Council are with all those who have been affected by the shocking events of recent days in Israel and Gaza.

“The Council has been in touch with our friends at Wimbledon synagogue to offer our support, and I was reassured to hear the Metropolitan Police have offered additional support to them and to other Jewish community buildings in the borough.

“If any resident is concerned or witnesses a hate crime, they should report it to police.

“Merton is proud to be a borough of many faiths and communities, and we know the terrible events of this week will resonate for many. We will continue to stand together in support of all those affected.”
