Every Merton family who applied for a secondary school place for their child starting this September has received an offer.
Today’s figures reveal that nearly 90% of Merton children have been offered a place in one of their top three preferred secondary schools.
Over 70% of families are receiving offers from Merton schools, further demonstrating the continued high confidence in our local secondary schools.
This news reflects a high level of confidence in our local secondary schools, all of which have been rated ‘Outstanding’ or ‘Good’ by Ofsted.
Based on last year’s exam results, Merton schools rank second in the country for progress that pupils make from the end of primary school to the end of year 11.
Councillor Sally Kenny, Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, said:
“We take great joy in extending school placements to all children on offer day, and are particularly pleased by the abundance of families securing spots in local borough schools. The significant preference for Merton’s secondary schools reflects the trust parents have in the outstanding efforts of our educational institutions.
Merton’s secondary schools are steadfastly committed to ensuring every student reaches their full potential, laying a strong foundation for their future success.
We also kindly remind parents to respond to their offer by 15 March, and additional information tailored to various circumstances can be accessed through our School Admissions website.”
