88% of Merton children receive offer from first preference primary school

Every Merton family that applied for a primary school place starting in September 2024 has received an offer of a school place. More than 96% of Merton children have been offered a place in one of their top three preferred primary schools, with 98% receiving a place at one of their six preferences.

Elizabeth Fitzpatrick, Director for Education and Early Help, said, “I’m delighted that Merton has been able to offer all our children a school place, and especially that almost 90% of students have received an offer for their first preference school.

“The fact that so many families have named and been offered one of their first preference primary schools is a resounding vote of confidence from parents in the excellent work that our schools are doing.”

Parents are reminded that to take up the offers for their children. Responses needed to be received by 30 April.
