Unity in diversity
Religious faiths from around Merton will come together on Tuesday 30 October for the annual Multi-Faith Civic Celebration. The Mayor of Merton Councillor Stuart Pickover is inviting residents to help celebrate the event at Merton Council’s Civic Centre at 7.30pm.
The Multi-Faith Civic Celebration recognises and celebrates the diversity of religious beliefs within the Borough and encourages a greater understanding and knowledge of each other’s faith and traditions.
The theme for this year’s celebration is Unity in Diversity. Seven faiths will be contributing: Bahai, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim and Sikh. Those attending will be able to follow prayers, readings from different Holy Scripture and sacred singing and chanting.
Mayor of Merton, Councillor Stuart Pickover said: “The Multi-Faith Service is always a fascinating and enjoyable occasion. Recent events have underlined the need for all faith communities in the Borough of Merton to come together. Please take this opportunity to join me at this Civic Celebration to show our unity and mutual respect.”
