Events to offer advice and information
Merton Council’s Fostering team is encouraging residents to consider whether they could offer a child a temporary home.
There is currently a national shortage of foster carers and Merton is hoping to recruit new carers to help children in its care by providing support and a place to live.
The Fostering team is holding two events next week where information and advice will be on hand and there will be a chance to learn more about the rewards of fostering and the invaluable help carers give to children.
On Monday 25 November there will be an information stand in Merton Link at Merton Civic Centre between 9.30am-5pm. A member of the Fostering team will be on hand to offer help and advice with all aspects of becoming a foster carer.
On Tuesday 26 November from 7-9pm there will be an information evening in the function room at the Out and Out Restaurant in Morden Hall, Morden Hall Park.
This will be an opportunity for people to meet members of Merton’s Fostering Team, and chat to other people who are currently fostering for Merton in an informal setting.
Anyone who is unable to make either event but it interested in finding out more about fostering can log onto http://www.merton.gov.uk, call 020 8545 4277, or write to Steven Butcher, Fostering Manager, Fostering Team, Worsfold House, Church Road, Mitcham, Surrey CR4 3BE.
