Morden Library opens a new chapter

The newly refurbished Morden Library is to be officially re-opened on Wednesday 12 April.

Proceedings for the evening will commence at 7.00pm, when guests and local dignitaries will be served refreshments upon arrival. Morden Library re-opened on 31 March after being closed for essential improvement work, which began on 10 October last year. In place now is a contemporary style interior, which offers its members an affable and comfortable experience

£60,000 has been spent on 9000 new items of stock with many new books adorning the newly installed shelves

The Mayor of Merton, Councillor Judy Saunders, who will be attending Wednesday’s event said:

“As a result of a public consultation exercise, Morden Library now offers greater comfort and choice.”

Jeff Hobden, Interim Director of Community and Housing, will open the event. Merton’s Mayor, Councillor Judy Saunders will apply the finishing touches by delivering her speech and cutting the ribbon to declare Morden Library officially open.
