The Chinese way

A delegation from China’s Henan Province visited the borough today to find out more about Merton’s industry, environment and electoral policies.

The political leaders from the Henan Province – China’s most populated area with almost 100 million people – are travelling throughout Europe to gain a greater understanding of Western policies and chose Merton as their destination in England.

The visit included a tour of the borough and a variety or presentations looking at life in Merton from its groundbreaking sustainable energy policies to its electoral system. They also discussed Merton’s structure and finance policies.

The delegates met the Chief Executive of Merton, Ged Curran who was pleased the Chinese had chosen Merton.

‘We were delighted to welcome the delegation to Merton. We learnt a great deal and were pleased to be able to share our experiences and successes with them.’
