Adult students across the borough are celebrating a successful year of studies at Merton Adult Education (MAE) having achieved fantastic results in both AS level and GCSE exams.
This year 86.5 per cent of students at MAE achieved A*-C passes in GCSEs with 73 per cent of students attaining A*-A passes. Spanish and Italian language students at the college passed with flying colours this year and were thrilled to find that 100 per cent of them had achieved A*- A passes.
Students sitting their AS level exams were also rewarded well for their hard efforts with 100 per cent achieving A-B passes.
Merton Adult Education has a wide range of courses available for residents considering a career change, furthering their education or simply learning something new.
Customer Service or Business Administration are just some of the courses on offer at MAE Training – a service that runs courses specially designed to respond to the needs of local business and potential employees.
An open day is being held on Tuesday 9 September, so those interested will have the opportunity to talk to MAE staff about vacancies available and the college’s new courses and programme.
Councillor Maurice Groves, Cabinet Member for Community Services, says: “Open days at Merton Adult Education are an excellent opportunity for participants to discuss their employment and training needs with Merton Adult Education staff, local organisations and careers providers.
“This is also a great chance to meet new people while learning more about the exciting courses this awarded college has to offer. I encourage residents across the borough to take full advantage of the learning opportunities available at Merton Adult Education.”
