Merton Council invests in revamp of public halls

As 2010 gets underway, Merton Council is investing nearly £100,000 to revamp two of its public halls.

A programme of improvement works will mean new wiring and the redecoration of Morden Assembly Hall in Tudor Drive, Morden and Merton Hall in Kingston Road, Wimbledon.

While the refurbishment is carried out, Morden Assembly Hall will be closed until 16 February 2010. Merton Hall will be closed from 22 February and will re-open on 21 April 2010.

Merton Council Deputy Leader Councillor Samantha George said: ‘We recognise the important role our public halls play in providing vital accommodation and facilities for many community and voluntary groups in the borough. Putting the needs of our residents first, we’re therefore investing in these halls to ensure they offer a pleasant environment in which Merton’s residents can meet.’
