Do you want to build a snowman?

It’s just one week to go until Merton’s official 2014 Christmas lights switch-on takes place in Mitcham on Thursday 27 November.

Festivities kick off at 3.30pm on Mitcham Fair Green with a host of activities for all the family including arts and crafts, carol singing, Christmas market and Santa’s Grotto complete with live reindeer. There will be a warm up with Tony from local business, “The Singers Tutor” before the screening of Disney’s ‘Frozen’ sing-along.

Then at 4.00pm, Culture Blast present an outdoor screening of Disney’s ‘Frozen’. Family and friends can enjoy a sing along to all their favourite Frozen songs at this stand up event.  Why not come dressed as your favourite Frozen character?

Following the Frozen sing-along, the Mayor of Merton Councillor Agatha Akyigyina will turn on the Christmas lights at 5.30pm. If Frozen’s not your thing, why not explore a KinoVan, on loan from Film London as part of its London: A Bigger Picture project.

The event timetable is as follows:

3.30pm – Festivities start – Santa’s Grotto with real reindeer, Carol Singing from Bond Primary School and Gorringe Park Primary school, Christmas market

3.55pm – Singing warm up with Tony from “The Singers Tutor”.

4.00pm – Free “sing-along” screening of Disney’s Frozen

5.30pm – Lights switch-on
