Cheer on The Lionesses in Merton

Football fans can cheer on England amid the splendour of the grounds of Canons House in Mitcham this Sunday from 10am in their bid to win the Women’s world cup final.  

The Lionesses’ match against Spain will be screened on the West Lawn in front of the Grade II* listed building enabling families and friends to take in the festive football atmosphere for FREE.  

Councillor Ross Garrod, Leader of Merton Council, said: “It’s fantastic The Lionesses have got through to the final and if you want cheer them on or Spain you can get down to Canons and watch what should be a great match in the splendid grounds of Canons House.”  

The match is also being screened as part of Merton Council’s drive to become London’s Borough of Sport.

Cllr Garrod said: “We hope the Lionesses stunning success will inspire others to get more involved in sport and get active.”

And there will also be FREE football coaching sessions for youngsters at the nearby leisure centre.  

Space will be at a premium, with limited deckchairs – so bring a picnic blanket and find a spot on the grass for you, your family or friends from 10am, ready for kick-off.
