In response to the aftermath of Storm Henk, Merton Council is actively working to ensure public safety by addressing fallen and damaged trees across the area.
Collaborating with our tree contractors, Barkland Tree Specialists, the Council is efficiently clearing debris and removing fallen trees.
The Greenspaces Arboriculture Team and Barkland Tree Specialists are on the ground, managing tree issues reported starting yesterday (2 January 2023).
They’re currently handling live cases, prioritising trees on roads and motorways – most of which were taken care of out last night.

The Council’s Arboriculture Inspectors are also out inspecting noted trees, which gives the Council accurate risk ratings for trees on roads and in parks.
IdverdeUK, our Council’s Parks Contractors, are helping with reporting dangerous trees in parks, open spaces, cemeteries, and allotments. They’re also putting up barriers in places where it’s needed.
Any trees that have fallen will be replaced in the next planting window in line with the councils Tree Strategy commitments. Trees with little damage or part-damage may be felled or cut back.
If you spot a fallen tree on a road or in a park, report it to Street Trees at StreetTrees@merton.gov.uk or visit our Report It page.
NOTE: Please be aware that Merton council would never charge residents for tree removal services.
Thanks for everyone’s help in reporting damaged or fallen trees.
