Merton’s GCSE results continue to beat national averages

Students across Merton schools received their GCSE and vocational results today, and we are delighted to celebrate their achievements. Our students have demonstrated exceptional resilience, determination, and academic excellence.

We also acknowledge the hard work of teachers and school leaders in preparing our students, all of whom attend good or outstanding schools.

Early figures show that, despite a national decline in outcomes in GCSE English and Maths at level 4+, Merton is bucking the national trend and showing strong improvements, particularly at the higher levels.

Councillor Sally Kenny, Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, visited St Mark’s Academy, as students collected their results.

“I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the young people in Merton who have completed their GCSEs this year. We are immensely proud of what they have achieved and look forward to seeing them continue to thrive in their futures.”

“As always, I would also like to recognise the extraordinary efforts of our teachers, school staff, and families. Their support has been crucial in guiding our students through these critical years and helping them to reach their full potential.”
