Prince Philip made a great contribution to public life, both as the Queen’s consort and through his own service over more than 70 years. One of his wonderful legacies is his Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme which has helped to develop young people.

His support for good causes has left a lasting legacy in our community, and we also thank him for his courage as a veteran who saw active service in World War Two, fighting for his country and the values we all hold so dear.

  16. My condolences to Her Majesty The Queen and the Royal Family.
Prince Philip served in public life into his mid 90s which was truly remarkable.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s youth awards programme has endured for decades and has helped countless young people and the communities they have helped with volunteering. What many people don’t realise is how many Duke of Edinburgh schemes (affiliated and also unaffiliated but modelled on the DofE programme) have been established in countries across the world, including in 144 nations across the Americas, Africa and in Asian Pacific countries.
We will all miss Prince Philip immensely, what a wonderful and enduring contribution he made to our country. What a fabulous contribution he also made to young persons across the world in terms of building their skills, confidence and resilience through the DofE programme.

  17. The Country has lost a great man who worked a lot in the background supporting the Queen, his Family and the Country. We will all miss him. He has now been promoted to Glory.

  18. My condolences to Her Majesty The Queen and the Royal Family at this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
