Take your first steps into spring this weekend and come and do your bit for global warming by taking part in Merton Council’s Love your Environment Fun Days.
Radio Jackie and youth drama group Stage Coach will be providing music and entertainment at the events. There will also be competitions and games, giving families plenty of chances to win prizes and pick up goodie bags.
The first fun day was at Mitcham Town Centre on Saturday 12 April. Further fetes are planned for 19 April at the Tandem Centre, in Colliers Wood, at Mitcham’s South Lodge Avenue, by the library, on 26 April and at Wimbledon Piazza, in the Broadway, on 10 May. The recycling, waste minimisation, anti-litter and anti-graffiti teams behind the Love your Environment Days will also be at the Mitcham Carnival on 14 June.
All the fun days will kick off at 11.30am and finish at 4pm.
Environment and Regeneration Director Lyn Carpenter said: “These fun days are a chance for everyone to find out how they can do more to help save the environment and increase recycling.
“It is our responsibility to put our residents’ futures first and lead the way in playing our part to protect the planet. But we need residents’ help so we can increase the amount of waste we recycle, minimise the amount of waste we produce and make sure there is no litter or graffiti detracting from the quality of street scene in the borough.”
