Sky is the limit for adult achievers

A celebration of achievement evening for Merton Adult Education students took place on Friday 22 June 2012.

Held at the Whatley Avenue campus, students and tutors received awards in categories including learner of the year, overcoming barriers to learning and outstanding achievement after being nominated by their peers.

Deputy Mayor of Merton, Councillor John Bowcott presented awards and cabinet member for education, Councillor Martin Whelton was also present to congratulate achievers.

Cabinet member for education, Councillor Martin Whelton said: “The evening was about celebrating success and achievement and I am pleased that so many adult learners in Merton are learning new skills, gaining qualifications and acquiring knowledge.

“I wish all of the award winners success in the future as learning is for life, and many will now go on and use the qualifications gained to take on further courses. I would also like to thank the staff at Merton Adult Education for helping their students achieve success, and for the difference they make to the lives of many learners.”
