This year’s A’ Level performance at Merton’s sixth forms has been a success story for the borough, with the majority of students achieving above the 98% national average for grades A* to E.
Merton’s new sixth forms demonstrated a very pleasing performance as they published their first ever A’ Level results. Raynes Park High School sixth form and the new Rutlish and Ricards Lodge combined sixth form achieved 99% A* to E grades. Bishopsford Arts College’s results are not yet complete but over 90% A* to E grades are expected.
Ursuline and Wimbledon College continue their record of producing excellent results, showing improvements on 2011 with 100% and 99% A* to E grades respectively. Looking at A* to C grades, Ursuline and Wimbledon College were above the 76% national average, achieving 85% and 83% respectively, both showing year on year improvement over the past three years. Both Schools also showed improvements in achieving A* to A grades with Wimbledon college exceeding the national average.
Merton Council cabinet member for education Councillor Martin Whelton said: “This year is the first time when sixth forms have been available at all Merton schools and the results are very encouraging and a great foundation for future success. They are also testament to the hard work and dedication that teachers, students and parents/carers have put in over the past two years. These results further strengthen our improving reputation for providing Merton’s young people with good, local education right up to A’ Level.”
